Draft MOODLE Course on Blogging
I’m putting together a MOODLE course on Blogging for teachers who’ve heard about it but don’t know where to start.
I’m at a stage where I’d welcome comments on things to amend/add/omit.
The course can be found at
http://www.abernet.org.uk/courses/course/enrol.php?id=35
You can login as a guest using the enrolment key – fastnbulbous.
I look forward to hearing your views.

hi Andy,
I’ve not really looked at moodle before, but it looks pretty neat. I was honored that you took the time to make the movie about Sandaig’s blog, nice movie, captivate looks like a great tool!
You seem to have gathered a real pile of great information. The only thing that is missing is the RSS bit, and it looks like you have this in hand.
Is this going to be available to folk outside Aberdeen in the long term?
I know there are quite a few blogging intros out there, but one as good as this and local to Scotland would be very valuable.
Congratulations Andy
Thanks, John. I could hardly do something on blogging without mentioning you!
The next bits to go in will be RSS, readers, aggregators, etc and finish with links to info about podcasting & videocasting.
When it’s finished, it will be available to everyone. As you say, there are a number of intros to blogging but most of them are designed for the more knowledgable computer user. I wanted something which would get an interested classroom teacher going with blogging. That’s why I spend so much time with examples as many teachers will not have seen a blog before.
I’ve deliberately tried to use as many Scottish examples as possible as there appears to be a genuine community netwok of bloggers here that can help and support new people starting up. I think if scotedublogs keeps developing it could become the central resource for Scottish bloggers.
Hi Andy,
what a brilliant piece of work – it is also great to hear that once you have completed the other sections you will be happy to share it with the wider world. I’d be recommending this to any blogger staring up in my neck of the woods!
Had yo thought about some narration with the captivate videos? You could toggle it on or off with an action button. This sometimes helps different learning styles.
Thatnks, Andrew. I agree that narration would be a plus. the reason that there isn’t one is simple. At the moment I’m suffering from hayfever and I doubt if many listeners would be impressed by my ‘bungedupness’.
Hello Andy
Thanks for putting this together. I liked the course so much… I signed up for it and left a couple of replies to the exercises you set. I hope that’s OK.
Thanks, David. It’s useful to have these sort of comments. What I’m hoping is that even id people just pass through, they’ll leave comments like this which will be useful for those who actually take the complete course.
Glad to see there are still Captain Beefhart fans about!
Also a tin teardrop.
